A dense, prickly shrub native to eastern Australia, Hakea sericea features fine, needle-like foliage and masses of fragrant white to pale pink flowers appearing from winter to spring. Its tough structure and spiny habit make it excellent for habitat plantings, windbreaks, and low-maintenance screening.
Growing Conditions:
Thrives in full sun and is tolerant of coastal exposure, wind, and extended dry periods. Handles light to moderate frosts.
Soil Type:
Prefers well-drained soils including sandy, loamy and gravelly types. Avoid heavy or poorly drained clay soils.
